The Samsung 990 EVO Plus is a high-end internal SSD aimed at consumer PC users, available in 1 TB, 2 TB, and 4 TB capacities in the M.2 2280 form factor. It supports the PCIe 4.0 ×4 interface (and partial PCIe 5.0 ×2), and delivers impressive sequential read speeds up to 7,250 MB/s and write speeds up to 6,300 MB/s (depending on capacity). It also offers strong random IOPS, supports modern SSD features like TRIM, S.M.A.R.T., various encryption standards, and has a power-efficient design suitable for typical desktop and laptop configurations.

Samsung emphasizes that the 990 EVO Plus improves energy efficiency through an advanced controller design, and integrates an upgraded write-buffering mechanism (“Intelligent TurboWrite 2.0”) to help sustain high performance under load, especially for the largest capacity.
